What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) is a positive, goal-focused talking therapy combined with hypnotic relaxation. It’s designed to help you focus on solutions, rewiring your brain to think and respond in more helpful ways. We use proven neuroscience techniques to strengthen the pathways that support confident, clear thinking. Hypnosis is a safe, deeply relaxed state where your brain is more receptive to embedding the positive changes.

Who is SFH for?

My SFH sessions are for people experiencing stress, sleep disturbances, anxiety, overwhelm, low confidence, or feeling “stuck” despite knowing full well that they are capable.

I also specialise in working with children aged 8 +, supporting issues such as school anxiety, exam stress, sleeping difficulties and low confidence.

What happens in my initial consultation?

You’ll learn the science behind SFH, understand how the process works, discuss your goals, and what success will look like for you. There’s no obligation to continue, but most people book their first session there and then.

What happens in each SFH session?

Each 60 minute session has two parts: solution-focused talk therapy focusing on your progress and goals, followed by deep hypnotic relaxation where your brain processes positive change. During the session, you remain completely aware and in control.

How much does it cost?

During my 50% offer (Sept-Dec 2025): initial consultation £20, single sessions £37, block of 6 sessions £198. From December 2025, prices increase to full rate. My 50% offer won’t be repeated.

How many sessions will I need?

It’s impossible to say, but what I can say is that SFH is much faster than other therapies. Most people have 8-12 sessions, some need fewer and others benefit from more. Everyone is different. We’ll discuss this in your personalised initial consultation.

Are your sessions online?

I offer sessions online (Zoom) or in-person at my private therapy room in Bury, north Manchester. Both are effective and neither is better than the other. You can also combine both – whatever works best for your schedule.

Are you fully qualified?

I’m nearing the end of very in-depth “gold standard” training with the Clifton Practice. I’ve already delivered 180+ hours of client sessions with monthly clinical supervision. I’m fully insured and enhanced DBS certified. I’m a student member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy, a student member of the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapists, and an accredited member of the professional body of Accredited Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists.

Is hypnosis safe?

Yes, it’s completely safe. You remain fully aware and in control. Hypnosis is simply a deeply relaxed state (like daydreaming) that helps your brain process positive change.

What if I’ve tried other therapies before?

Join the club! Most of my clients have tried other approaches. SFH is different because it’s forward-focused, works quickly, and is based on the latest neuroscience research. We don’t go over and over problems, we focus on solutions.

What if I can’t relax or be hypnotised?

Everyone can achieve the relaxed state needed for SFH. If you can daydream or doom-scroll, you can do hypnosis. I’ll take care of it, all you have to do is sit back and trust the process.
